Window types

Please note that FlexScreen is not yet suitable for every type of window. Please read the following information carefully.

What type of window is FlexScreen suitable for?

Offset plastic windows

FlexScreen fits into offset plastic windows with the specifications and geometry shown in the image. FlexScreen is perfectly suited for the very common tilt-and-turn windows. The window remains fully operable without having to remove the insect screen. FlexScreen can also be used on a double-sash window, but only on the sash that opens first. The second sash can only be opened after removing the FlexScreen.
In addition, you must check the transition to the second sash. To do this, perform the pencil test.

For which window types is FlexScreen not yet suitable?

The FlexScreen system is not suitable for flush-mounted windows. FlexScreen is installed between the window frame and the window sash. With flush-mounted windows, there is not enough space, so the insect screen could be damaged when the window is closed, and the window may not close properly.

Older wooden windows are often not compatible with the FlexScreen system. These windows are typically designed with very little space between the window frame and the sash—which is why the insect screen system usually doesn’t have enough room for this type of window. Newer wooden windows may or may not be compatible, depending on their design. Please send us pictures of your window and frame so we can assess this.

Similar to flush-mounted windows, this window system usually does not provide enough space for a FlexScreen. In addition, aluminum windows often feature a special sealing system and sharp corners, which can cause the mesh to become damaged or tear. If you’re unsure, please feel free to send us pictures of the window and frame.

Windows fitted with a weather bar are not suitable for the FlexScreen system. Even with offset PVC-U windows, the protruding weather bar on the frame causes the fabric to tear when the window is closed.

For window frames with a center seal, there must be a minimum gap of 10 mm between the center seal and the frame, as this space is required for the FlexScreen frame. This space is also crucial for using the clip-on spacers, as otherwise they may not fit correctly.

Do the pencil test

You can easily check whether the FlexScreen frame fits your window. Place a pencil or ballpoint pen (8–10 mm in diameter) in the window frame, as shown in the pictures.

If the pencil or ballpoint pen fits snugly into the window frame and you can close and reopen the window without any problems, the FlexScreen frame will most likely have enough space as well. This space must be available along the entire length of the window frame, not just where the pencil is inserted.

However, FlexScreen does not fit if the window has an external projection or is flush with the frame. There is a risk that the tissue will be damaged!

Installation

How the flexscreens are attached

No tools or aids are required to install FlexScreen. Thanks to its flexible frame, this fly screen can be used with bare hands. The FlexScreen is clamped into the window frame by pressing the flexible frame together.

The clip-on spacers provide additional support. These guarantee a perfect fit in the window frame.

To ensure that your FlexScreen fits perfectly in the window, we automatically subtract 4 mm from the width and 10 mm from the height during production. Information Sheet

Yes, this is important! If you enter the width and height in the store the other way round, please let us know under comments (height = width, width = height). During production, we deduct 4 mm from the width and 10 mm from the height so that your FlexScreen fits perfectly. Without this information, your FlexScreen will not fit! Please also note that the safety note is no longer at the bottom right for production reasons.

No, but we are constantly working on further developing FlexScreen technology and we are always bringing new innovations to the market.

No special tools are required! The flexible design of FlexScreen enables simple, tool-free installation and removal.

Remove the FlexScreen from the window frame and clean it with mild soap and water. Alternatively, you can also just spray the fabric with water. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaning tools.

Yes, that’s possible if the general requirements are met. FlexScreen can also be used on a double-sash window, but only for the sash that opens first. The second sash can only be opened after removing the FlexScreen.
In addition, you must check the space between the two sashes to ensure there is enough room for the FlexScreen frame. To do this, perform the pencil test using a pencil or ballpoint pen with a diameter of 8–10 mm.
